The first few pages [were] like unwrapping a jewel slowly, but it didn't take too long to recognize the all of the stone and all of its facets. For anyone who hasn't lived at Ten Mile your lines will be an embrace & a revelation; for those who have lived there and have gone into reluctant exile they will always be an oasis of thought and memory not existing anywhere else. Dorothy's eyesight is quite gone, so I do now have the privilege of reading your poems to her and they do often end in a mutually understood silence weighted with comfort and remembering. --- A tear or two is not uncommon."
