I love Maya Banks... I really do. But why or why does she get me excited to learn she is releasing a new book, only to find out it was previously published under another title. So here is my word of warning; great story, loved the characters, if you know Banks' work, you are not learning anything new by reading this; however, please be advised that this has already been published, therefore I had already read it... and have now paid for it twice.Other than that, I totally, 100% recommend reading this series. Love them. Great reads... just don't order them twice!

I like Maya Banks, and was piqued by the sample to this book, so I bought it. It's a predictable story about a young vivacious woman who falls in love with the guy chosen by her father although unbeknownst to her. Naturally she finds out the truth and is very upset about it. Character development in this book is not very deep, the brother could have been a better secondary character with more depth. The only well developed characters are the two principals, and still they're very predictable.
Ms. Banks has better books on her name, so the expectations were higher for a book authored by her.
This was my least favourite of the 4 books but that doesn't mean I didn't like it, I just liked the other ones more than this one.
Good story but I hated the arranged marriage and the main character going into the marriage with a completely different idea/view of the relationship. I didn't like that she was so naive and deceived.
Good story still because this series got some good grovelling in it and I love the grovelling. Probably could use some more hahahaha
Dev & Ash story was great. Dev might have been an ass but he isn't a bad guy. The story had that he wanted to change her but he wasn't constantly telling her what to do. He made the statement on the wedding night and she took it from there. All of his actions showed his Love even if he didn't know it. Great story WILL read the next.
Ashley & Devon fall in love and marry but it isn’t what you think. Unbeknownst to Ashley, their marriage is part of a business deal put together by her father and Devon. Ashley, who is very much in love with Devon tries to become the perfect executive wife. Trouble ensues when she finds her voice and turns the table on Devon. An easy and quick read. I really liked Ashley and her take charge attitude.
I had a very hard time putting this one down while I worked. This story pulled me in from the very beginning. Ashley is a sweet, innocent young woman who decided to wait for Mr. Right before giving herself. She had very traditional values and I found her quite refreshing. Devon is driven to succeed to the point that he agrees to marry Ashley to gain a partnership. While his motives for marriage aren't the best, he's determined to be a good and faithful husband. When everything falls apart on their wedding night, he is still determined to take care of Ashley and convince her that their marriage can work.
Ashley decides that she'll earn his love by changing to conform to his image of a perfect wife, but it's so far from how Ashley truly is, she realizes that to make these changes would be to stiffle who she really is. She confronts Devon when she finds out she's pregnant and tells him she deserves better and leaves him. Once she's gone Devon realizes that he loves her just the way she is and wants her back so he goes out in a big way to convince her he truly loves her.
The emotions in this story really grabbed me and I'm glad I read this story. I normally only read historicals so I was surprised that I enjoyed this one so much. I'll be reading the other ones in the series. I've read several of Maya Banks historicals and that's why I took a chance on this one and I was not disappointed!
I have read some fabulous books by Ms. Banks, but these “dime store” type books of hers are just sad. She is a really gifted writer and I don’t know why she is wasting time writing these mindless, characterless, plotless stories. I guess they sell.
If I did not know how brilliant and unselfish a writer she really is.... I would not be so harsh and critical. But, unless you can get them for free, don’t even waste $.99 for these type of her books.
I liked the beginning and middle but hated the ending, mostly because it felt like everyone ganged up against the hero all at once and didn't even give him time to talk or say his piece. Also, all the stuff they were mad at him at were things that the heroine did to herself, and instead of being rational and simply talk to him, she does the flighty drama stuff that has been pointed out to be her faults and yet everyone sympathizes her for it.
So for a harlequin type of book it was ok, I did like that for once it was the typically guy and girl couple that I've seen in a lot of Maya Banks.
